Teaching KATE (Teaching Kids About The Environment) programs are hands-on learning that correlate with the science standards and use the outdoors as a teaching medium to bring science and math alive. They are designed to allow student to develop a sense of responsibility, appreciation, and stewardship for the environment in a cooperative learning setting. There are 66 sessions available for downloading and to use with students. Users have permission to use entire or part of lesson plan to meet their needs.

Forest Resources is one of three academic departments within the School of Natural Resources. The department has approximately 250 undergraduate and 60 graduate students in forest resource management, forest products, and urban forestry programs.
